Chaoshanren Gather in Australia

TeoChew International Convention Held

According to Shantou Daily, about 2,500 overseas TeoChew people from Chaozhou and Shantou gathered in Sydney on November 3rd 2007, to attend the 14th TeoChew International Convention. China Radio International said that the three-day convention also included a calligraphy exhibition, an academic seminar, economic and trade exchanges and tourism promotion activities. It is estimated that 6.5 million TeoChew people live overseas.
