Shantou prices fall

In step with the national trend, consumer prices in Shantou slowed down in the third quarter, according to a report in the Shantou Daily.

The daily, citing Shantou Municipal Statistics Bureau data, said the consumer price index (CPI) rose by 6.5% in the first three quarters of 2008 compared to the 7.2% growth in the first two quarters.

The CPI for September was 4.4%, almost half the increase recorded in February 2008 (9.5%).
